A-LO-HA from beautiful Hawaii, the 50th State of the United States!  E komo mai - WELCOME!

I am Courtney Promes’ Auntie Rita.  Today it is 82 degrees warm.   There are six major islands in Hawaii: Oahu where the capital city of Honolulu is located; Hawaii which is also called “The Big Island”; Maui; Kauai; Lanai; and Molokai.  There is also a smaller island called Niihau, and a new island is forming in the ocean.

The Hawaiian Islands are known for their beautiful beaches, friendly people who have the “aloha spirit”, surfing, the hula, the flower lei, the aloha shirt, tropical fruits & flowers, and more that you can read about in books in the library and on computers.

The State of Hawaii is nicknamed The Aloha State. The capital city is Honolulu.  The population is 1,262,840.  The languages of Hawaii are English and Hawaiian.

I thought you would like to see one of the tropical fruits growing in my garden and many gardens in Hawaii – it’s a banana tree.  In my garden I also have plants/trees of guava, cherry, avocada, lemon, lime, orange, and peach.

Aloha means: hello, goodbye, and love.  I hope you enjoyed learning about Hawaii.
With aloha, Auntie Rita
