Quincy is incorporated as a city in 1888. It’s located just a few miles south from Boston, the capital of Massachusetts. What is special about Quincy? Let’s see, Quincy is the birthplace to the second and sixth U.S. presidents, John Adams and his son, John Quincy Adams. Hence, Quincy is nicknamed the “City of Presidents”.
There are a couple other interesting facts about Quincy. One is the first commercial railroad in America was founded in Quincy in 1826 to transport Quincy granite to Charlestown, MA for construction of the Bunker Hill Monument. And the second fact is Dunkin’ Donuts, an international donut and coffee retailer was founded in Quincy in 1950.
I attached an image of where Quincy is located on the small map of Massachusetts.
We’re glad that you invited us to participate in this exciting project.
It was a pleasure meeting Stanley and sharing with your school things about Quincy.
Best Regards,
Sandra Chan
